I've been a real slacker lately & haven't had much to post, I blame...the heat. It is just so hot that I can't even find time to blog. Pathetic right.Anyhow, updates...
The loverly "barn house" failed miserably at round 2 & someone else managed to score the house, it should close any day now if they said they could close within 30 days like we did. The house would have been ours had the bank not said it had to sit on the market 10 days. Needless to say we offered nearly $18K over the asking price & from my understanding, the winner was about another $12-13K over us...so that is the market.
After that, we tried for:
This one has alley access w/ a 2 car garage w/ a side yard instead of rear yard. Very cool house..Above is the front screened porch that opens to the living room & the doors were pocket slider doors, so you could open it without having 1 side closed. It is a corner house, so that porch was very "people watcher friendly' and I was looking forward to having the whole house open in the fall...Too bad, was a short sale that the realtor led us to believe there weren't other offers, so when ours did come in, somehow she had 4 offers..my guess is hers was probably the winning & we would have come in with a higher had we known there was competition. This property needed some work in the kitchen & baths but otherwise as a perfect fit of old w/ charm, yet a solid house(unlike most in the area, with charm comes old & money pits). It had a giant safe in one of the closets that we have no idea how we would get out of this property, apparently, this was the builder of this neighborhoods' private residence, so at the time maybe he had lots of important papers & things he needed to store. It also had this crazy fan in the ceiling that the vent opened up & a motor sucked all the hot air from the house into the attic... I loved this place almost as much as the new build house. It will be hard to find another gem like this. Wish I had more pics of the place, this was the realtors pics.Porch & window to the side yard:
So anyhow, the house hunt goes on & seems to consume my life....something will come up..eventually.
